Burgàs is the second-largest city on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast and the fourth-largest in Bulgaria after Sofia, Plovdiv and Varna, with a population of 200,271, according to the 2011 census. Burgas is an important industrial, transport, cultural and tourist center.
Burgas has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen climate classification Cfa), with considerable maritime and continental influences. The climate in the area defines a long and warm summer which makes the city perfect place for summer tourism.
The city is surrounded by the Burgas Lakes and located at the westernmost point of the Black Sea, at the large Burgas Bay. There are plenty of options for water sports such as yachting, diving, surfing and other.
Burgas is not famous as a beach resort (although you can find widely crowded beaches here), but more as a turning point to the big southern Black Sea resorts in Bulgaria like Sunny Beach, Pomorie, Nessebar, Sozopol, Dyuni, Elenite, etc.
Bourgas will give you a warm welcome – hospitality and kindness of the southerners are deeply moving; the emotional Bourgas nights will remain a never-to-be-forgotten experience; no other spot of Bulgaria is so close to sea and its romantic atmosphere as Bourgas.

Welcome to Burgas – the city of business, tourism & culture

Burgas is the fourth largest city in Bulgaria, situated in the south-eastern part of the country, right at the Black sea coast. The climate is primarily continental with a distinct impact from the Black Sea. The Port of Burgas is the biggest sea port in the country and the Burgas Airport is the second largest airport where most of the international flights caring tourists are landing. Despite its location on the seaside, the city is not famous as a beach resort, but more as a turning point to the southern resorts like Sunny Beach, Pomorie, Sozopol, Elenite, Dyuni, etc.

Burgas is an important industrial center in Bulgaria, and the city also invests considerable resources in tourism. What attracts people here is mostly the sea. But the municipality supports multiple art and culture venues. One of the biggest is “The spirit of Burgas” 7-days music festival attracting some of the biggest local and international musicians.

Burgas will give you a warm welcome – hospitality and kindness of the southerners are deeply moving; the emotional Burgas nights will remain a never-to-be-forgotten experience; no other spot of Bulgaria is so close to sea and its romantic atmosphere as Burgas.
